what to do if the power goes off

Power cuts can occur at the most inconvenient times. When the lights go out unexpectedly and the place is shrouded in darkness, those at home have to cope, or not, as best they can. Should such an event have been anticipated, measures would have been taken to enable a relatively uncomplicated continuation of activities until normal service is resumed. Many, however, are caught completely off guard; and this is where the fun really starts.

I won't spoil it by going into detail because I myself enjoyed reading the article again, and hope you will too. I will just say that I tried to write it in a light-hearted manner, documenting the reactions and antics of a typical family which finds itself stranded in a ghostly, unfamiliar world where conveniences that were taken for granted have suddenly been taken from them. The tale, however, does have a reasonably happy ending.
