New Authors
a way to get your book published at long last
Like us, there must be new authors out there who have written books and want others to have the opportunity to read them. Although we believe our work is as good as any, no publisher seems interested and literary agents won't consider a new author until their book is in print. It can take years to discover this and leads us to doubt our ability. Worse still, we begin to question whether the book is really as good as we thought. From there, enthusiasm wanes and depression sets in. Any new author will find it almost impossible to break into printed book publishing, especially in Australia. We won't comment on the rest of the world as this is unknown to us. Having told you what you probably already know, we'd now like to give you some encouraging news.

This is a company based in the United States at Sudbury, Massachusetts who will go out of their way to produce your book in various eBook formats to suit a number of digital reading devices as well as PC and Mac. For a very reasonable cost, not only will they convert your .doc file, they will distribute your eBook to major online retailers including Amazon.com, Amazon.uk, Barnesandnoble.com, Apple iBookstore, Kobo, Sony Readerstore, Ingram Digital, and Google eBookstore. They are able to produce audio books, and most recently have added paperback publishing to their list. Book cover creation and book promotional services are also available. It is your choice as to how much you spend to improve your chances of being noticed and there is no obligation to use any of the extra services.
Bear in mind that, as with any book, somehow you have to draw people's attention to it, to make it stand out and be 'special', so you will need to organise some form of promotion. eBookIt can also advise on this and we recommend considering their suggestions. We created our own website and have opted to use the eBookIt global promotional services on two of our eBooks so far. We are currently working with them on the third. Although we were advised from the beginning that it would take time before anyone out there even knew we existed, we have been surprised with the early results of the promo. Our website is getting visitors from all over the world - USA, UK, France, Ukraine, Russia, Germany and many more. The promotion was also responsible for articles in a couple of daily newspapers - one a double-page spread! In addition to this we have started making the eBooks known in areas not covered by the promo. The world is an awfully big area to cover with a lot of English speaking countries!
As you can see www.aseasonofhappiness.com has four ebooks on offer. Each one of these has been transformed by eBookIt. It is thanks to them that our books are out there. We could have tried to do all the formatting ourselves, but not only is it time consuming, frustrating, and confusing, but all the T's have to be crossed and the I's dotted to suit the various retailers who each have their own small idiocycrasies. Had we decided to do it ourselves we would still be battling on in a field which is totally alien to us. Take a look at the previews on the website, which we based on eBookIt's formula. This is how your book can look. We think eBookIt did a fantastic job.
